WHERE'M YOW FRUM?
In the modern world of technology we are experiencing an immense increase in external influence from media. This project explored the accelerated generational loss of local dialect, focusing on my own area and dialect of the Black Country in the West Midlands.

Using a screen print I used gloss black ink to create an illusion of disappearing text to imitate the idea of the dialect disappearing. The heritage of the Black Country dialect dates back to the Germanic, Anglo-Saxon era of the 5th Century contrasting from the Norman influence of Modern English of the 11th Century. The allowed for a fitting contrast of typography using Gothic, Germanic type for the Black Country and the traditional serif type for the Norman Modern English.
